Incident Response Unit

VT Group was announced in October 2008 as the winner to provide the long term capability management of the New Dimension fleet of emergency vehicles and equipment modules. The VT contract with Firebuy Limited , on behalf of the Department of Communities and Local Government (CLG), will see VT ensure that this national capability is available for deployment around England in the event of major incidents. The assets are operated by the 46 Fire and Rescue Services throughout England, comprising more than 500 vehicles and specialist modules for dealing with major emergencies such as floods, terrorist attacks and urban search and rescue for collapsed buildings.

As part of this contract, VT Nuclear Services will be supplying Britain’s Fire and Rescue Authorities with a service contract worth £1.6 million over 16 years as part of VT Nuclear Services’ Defence and Resilience capabilities. The contract covers the maintenance, calibration and repair of radiation monitoring equipment to be carried on the New Dimension fleet.

VT Nuclear Services will undertake the asset support services from their Berkeley Service Centre in Gloucestershire which already provides asset support services for various types of radiometric equipment including personal dosimeters and more sophisticated contamination and diagnostic equipment.
